Distance: 25.9 km
Elevation gain: 565 m
Allow: 9 hours return

The Egypt Lake Loop is a long day-hike from the lodge, but worth the effort. You hike past numerous lakes and cross a wonderful pass covered with alpine flowers and impressive stand of alpine larch.

The trail: From the top of Whistling Pass, you head down to Scarab Lake, a small alpine lake. Then you climb a short rise and look down to Egypt Lake. The hike down to Egypt Lake is quite steep. A short detour to the right leads you to a good view of Egypt Lake. The popular campground is now in view. Proceed down Pharoah Creek and finally back up to Shadow Lake Lodge.
