Shadow Lake Lodge

Shadow Lake Lodge, nestled near the towering grandeur of Mt. Ball, is a comfortable day's hike into the backcountry of Banff National Park. Private cabins and gourmet meals provide a relaxing and comfortable base for your next hiking getaway.

Begin your adventure by taking the gondola to Sunshine Village, where you can explore the surrounding high alpine meadows and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Rockies. Spend your first night in Banff’s only mountain top hotel, Sunshine Mountain Lodge. The next morning, with packed lunch in your daypack, and your camera ready, embark on the epic 27km hike via Simpson Pass, Healy Pass, Egypt Lake, Whistling Pass and Haiduk Lake to arrive at the historic Shadow Lake Lodge. Spend two nights relaxing in your private log cabin, enjoying warm hospitality and mountain gourmet meals. Discover even more jaw-dropping views on the final leg of your journey over Gibbon Pass to Twin Lakes, Arnica Lake, and Vista Lake. Transportation can be arranged to collect you from the trailhead back to your vehicle. This experience is available June 29th through September 7th and is based on availability at both properties.

Spend the first night of your stay in the heart of downtown Banff at Brewster’s Mountain Lodge. The following morning, with your bagged lunch and backpack, you will hike into Shadow Lake Lodge for your 2 – 3 night stay. Once you have hiked to your hearts content, Brewster’s Mountain Lodge will welcome you back for another night, along with complimentary passes for a soak at the Banff Upper Hot Springs.
