ACC Adventures at Shadow Lake Lodge

The Alpine Club of Canada is Canada’s mountain club, guiding mountaineering, hiking and climbing adventures throughout all seasons. Shadow Lake Lodge is excited to collaborate with ACC Adventures to bring you the opportunities below.

  • Fall Hiking at Shadow Lake Lodge

    Dates: September 18-22, 2023

    Price: $2,750+ Tax / Person

    The lodge is the perfect base camp for hiking as it sets you up for many hikes that take you quickly into the alpine and to some amazing view points. The ratio for this camp is 6 participants to one guide (ACMG Apprentice Hiking Guide, Bob Olinger.

    This camp is designed for anyone who wants to hike in the mountains. You don’t need previous hiking experience but you should be prepared to walk 4-7 hours with a light day bag and walk the 14km trail in with all your gear for the camp. See gear list for things to pack. Some trails will be rocky and uneven but no climbing is necessary.

    Trails include Gibbon Pass, Pharaoh Creek to Egypt Lakes, Whistling Pass and more.

  • Sunshine to Shadow Lake Lodge

    Dates: Anytime between June 23 - September 9, 2023

    Price: Starting at $2,626 CAD for 2 people

    Experience spectacular beauty in the pristine backcountry of Banff National Park while hiking one of the Rockies’ classic long-distance hikes. Shadow Lake Lodge and Sunshine Mountain Lodge are pleased to support your self-guided backcountry hiking adventure with a luxury hut-to-hut experience on either end.

    If you are an experienced hiker capable of a long (25-30 km) day, this is just the adventure you’ve been looking for!

  • Hire a Guide

    We get it: travelling in new territory can be daunting, especially in the backcountry!

    Whether to ease fears, or prepare for a large mountain objective, you have the option to hire a guide and elevate your Shadow Lake Lodge experience. Guides can be hired for a single day, or for the duration of your whole trip*. Our partner ACMG guides, many of them having years of experience in Banff National Park, provide unparalleled knowledge and support.

  • Plein Air Artists Retreat

    Summer 2024 dates coming soon

    An excellent opportunity to explore and take in the beauty of pristine alpine lakes, wildflowers, and spectacular mountains while capturing your experience through art and photography. This Alpine Club of Canada-hosted camp provides you with the tools and experts to guide you to do just that.

    The small group of 8 people will be accompanied by an artist-in-residence and ACMG guide. Improve your painting skills with daily sessions by artist Patti Dyment. The art sessions will be general, geared towards tips on plein air painting and sketching, perspective, composition, and the unique challenges and rewards of capturing mountain landscapes. Tasty and nutritious group meals will be prepared by the in lodge chef. The trails stretch in every direction and offer a variety of hikes of different difficulties (from very easy to strenuous) are possible.
